Signals detected

    What this means

Detection uses public IP intelligence — proxy flags, hosting ASNs, and network operator names. It is indicative, not definitive.

Consumer VPN IPs often appear as datacenter or hosting traffic. That is expected when your VPN is working.

If you are not using a VPN but see proxy or hosting signals, your ISP may use carrier-grade NAT or a transparent proxy.

    How VPN detection works

Services maintain databases of IP ranges used by VPNs, proxies, Tor exit nodes, and cloud hosts. Your IP is matched against those lists.

Websites use similar signals for fraud prevention, geo-licensing, and bot detection — which is why some sites block known VPN IPs.

How to know if your VPN is working

Run this test before and after connecting. Your IP address, location, and ISP should change to match your VPN server.

Pair this check with a DNS leak test and WebRTC leak test — a working VPN should pass all three.

    Limitations

New or niche VPN servers may not yet appear in databases. Conversely, shared datacenter IPs are not always VPNs.

Treat results as one data point alongside DNS and WebRTC leak tests.

    FAQ

    Am I using a VPN?

If you intentionally connected a VPN app and this test shows a datacenter or hosting IP different from your ISP, your VPN is likely active. If results match your home ISP, the VPN may not be connected or routing traffic.

    Is my VPN working?

A working VPN changes your visible IP, location, and ISP. Run this test while connected — then compare with our IP address lookup, DNS leak test, and WebRTC leak test for full assurance.

Why would a site block my VPN?

Streaming, banking, and fraud-sensitive services often restrict known VPN and datacenter IP ranges to enforce regional rules or reduce abuse.

Does detected VPN mean I am protected?

Not necessarily. Detection only reflects how your IP is classified. You still need DNS and WebRTC leak checks for full privacy assurance.

Can I hide that I am using a VPN?

Some VPNs offer residential or obfuscated servers designed to blend in. No method is perfect against all detection systems.
